Jego pociągłe, podkreślające kontur sylwetki delikatnością załamań materiału kreacje nosiły największe gwiazdy show-biznesu, celebryci i żony wielkich finansjerów. Tworzone przezeń suknie zdefiniowały amerykańską modę lat 70-tych. Halston, a dokładniej Roy Halston Frowick w świecie mody, przepychu i dekadenckiego glamour zasłynął z tworzenia niezobowiązującej wizji życia w metropolii dla amerykańskich kobiet. Często przyłapywany w legendarnym Studio 54 wraz ze swoimi bliskimi przyjaciółmi - Lizą Minnelli, Biancą Jagger i Andym Warholem, projektant nie bez powodu tworzył elegancję na miarę popołudniowego lunchowania oraz nocy spędzanych w nowojorskich dyskotekach. W 1969 roku, Halston odsłonił swoją pierwszą linię ready-to-wear pod nazwą Halston Limited, w której kultywował przykazania zaproponowanej przez siebie kobiecej sylwetki - prostej, minimalistycznej, zawsze wyrafinowanej, ale i niezmiennie wygodnej. Pozbywając się zbędnych detali projektant skupił się na uwydatnieniu naturalnego piekna linii kobiecego ciała. Poprzez spływający wzdłuż figury miękki, aksamitny materiał długiej sukni wieczorowej w odcieniu ciepłego karmelu, Halston odsłonił jedynie zarys idei kształtu ciała, pozwalając naturalnemu przepływowi tkaniny wyznaczyć jego delikatne linie.
