Stworzone z myślą o ekstremalnych warunkach regat i wymaganiach zespołu żeglarskiego Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli,dedykowane projekty Prady z linii o tej samej nazwie staną się prawdziwym hołdem dla włoskiego dziedzictwa żeglarskiego i obsesyjnej precyzji technologii performance wear’u. W wyniku połączenia wizji Patrizia Bertelliego, CEO w Prada Group, a prywatnie męża Miucci Prady, oraz Germana Frersa, inżyniera budowy okrętów i projektanta jachtów, w 1997 roku powstaje zespół żeglarski Luna Rossa, by konkurować w 30-tej edycji Pucharu Ameryki, który odbywał się wtedy w Nowej Zelandii. Nazwa zespołu “Luna Rossa”, z włoskiego oznaczać będzie Czerwony Księżyc. Wyjątkowa, limitowana kurtka techniczna powstała jako część oficjalnego umundurowania teamu Luna Rossa podczas America's Cup 2003 to niepowtarzalny artefakt na przecięciu elitarnej, sportowej tradycji i hermetycznego świata mody wysokiej.
