RIOT! RIOT! RIOT! Powrót Rafa Simonsa po rocznej przerwie, a właściwie urlopie sabatycznym spędzonym wykładając na wiedeńskiej akademii designu i konsultując nabywcom sztuki. Pokaz na sezon jesień/zima 2001 przedstawia radykalną wizję urbanistyki w oczach belgijskiego projektanta, ukazując jednostkę nie tylko wobec ekstremalnego zimna klimatu, ale i chłodu miejskiego industrializmu. Simons czerpie inspiracje z wschodnioeuropejskiej młodzieży. Na wiedeńskim pchlim targu obserwuje walkę o przetrwanie w niskich temperaturach pochodzących z Ukrainy i Rumunii chłopców, którzy kolejnymi nakładanymi na siebie warstwami odzieży izolują się przed panującym na zewnątrz mrozem. Projektant hiperbolizuje więc wszystko, legendarne już, militarne kurtki bomberki, okrywające głowy kaptury, wysokie pod szyje golfy, robocze spodnie i plecenia grubych wykonanych z szetlandzkiej wełny swetrów. Twarze modeli osłaniają obszerne, misternie haftowane chusty naśladujące keffiyeh - tradycyjne nakrycie głowy w części krajów arabskich. Oni sami zrzucają z siebie kolejne spowijające ich warstwy, jak gdyby obnażając metaforę wiecznie niespokojnego, antagonistycznego ducha młodości w całości oeuvre Rafa Simonsa.
